Over mij
Our store's journey began in 2020, during a period of illness when I delved into researching Ojibwe poet Jane Johnston Schoolcraft. It was through this exploration that I discovered the remarkable beauty and rich cultural heritage of Native American and Indigenous tribe members. As an artist, I felt a deep desire to bring their portraits to life in vibrant colors, to showcase them as living and breathing beings among us.
Inspired by my own ancestral tribe, the cherished Choctaw, and captivated by the Native American tribes across the land, I felt a connection with the faces from the past, as if they were revealing themselves to me. However, as I immersed myself in this work, I also learned about the unfortunate erasure of Native American beauty and the feeling of being uncelebrated.
This realization broke my heart because I firmly believe that each tribe possesses its own unique beauty and resplendence. I couldn't keep these marvelous individuals to myself; they deserved to be seen and celebrated by a wider audience. It became my mission to ensure that the noble Native American people adorn the walls and halls of homes throughout North America and beyond. I wish them to be recognized as the sovereigns they truly are, erasing the notion of their invisibility from history.
Our store aims to honor and celebrate the Native American heritage by offering these portraits, allowing others to appreciate the remarkable beauty and resplendent regalia of these individuals. It is a testament to their strength, culture, and history that we strive to share with people across the world.
