The Jersey, launched in Plymouth England in 1736 saw honorable service and punishing battle in the War of Jenkins Ear and beyond. Sadly, she ended her career shamefully as the notorious prison ship Jersey in Wallabout Bay, New York Harbor during the American War of Independence, where over 11,000 Revolutionary War patriots died in unspeakable conditions - more than twice the number who perished in battle.
