O Clavis David Key of David Advent Ornament
“O Clavis David” — O Key of David — is the fourth of the Great O Antiphons, sung on December 20 as the Church awaits the coming of Christ. This ornament features Guido Reni’s 1626 painting Christ Giving the Keys to St. Peter, symbolizing the authority of Christ, the true Key of David, who opens what no man can shut.
The artwork rests within an oval frame nestled inside an illuminated red and blue-gray “O,” lined in white for a refined, cohesive look. On the reverse side, the full English text of the antiphon appears on the blue-gray background:
O Key of David, and Sceptre of the House of Israel, who openest, and no man shutteth; who shuttest, and no man openeth: come and bring forth the prisoner from the prison-house, him that sitteth in darkness and in the shadow of death.
Part of the O Antiphon Ornament Collection, this piece invites quiet reflection on Christ’s mercy and kingship — a beautiful addition to your Advent or Jesse Tree traditions.
