Antique book cover (treeleather) etui

This design features antiquarian tree calf-leather book cover binding from 1878 and is sure to please bibliophiles, book people, book collectors, book sellers, readers, writers and introverted bespectacled book nerds. This book cover patterning technique was developed in the 1770s by using an acidic compound to create a natural looking tree bark/branch pattern in calf-leather used for book binding. The name for the pattern is "tree calf leather". The original design was scanned at high resolution and contrast was digitally enhanced; small scratches were digitally repaired. This design might not be appropriate for vegans. However, the calf in question died circa 1878, well over a century ago, and now has achieved some memorial respect via digital representation.
