À propos
Everyone who knows me, knows I love to tell stories. Stories about the past, something funny that happened, stories about concerts, & on & on.
Well here is the short of how Storyteller Design began.
I have always loved art. As a child I drew, painted & got my first camera. I took classes through high school but never thought of art as a career.
In college I started as a Criminology major - loved TV shows like Law and Order, CSI. Then I had an Art Appreciation course & my career course changed. I switched my major to Graphic Design & graduated from Indiana State University In 1999. I moved to Indianapolis working for CNHI Media & later for Reebok. I moved to Colorado & worked at Blue Mountain Arts. Then to Alabama and was Art Director for Montgomery Living Magazine.
This is where I drifted from art. My husband took a job in southern AL. After moving the market crashed. Southern Alabama isn’t exactly a mecca for art but when economy crashed it was really bad. I continued to do freelance work but slowly transitioned into a steady recruiting job.
My husband took a new position sending us to Minnesota & we started a family. For 8 years I worked for a company doing recruiting and HR. But something was missing.
We recently moved back to Minnesota. I was content not working. But then COVID-19. With my husband working at home, homeschooling 2 young girls, I was losing me.
START became my word. I had to START each day doing something new to me. I hard to START learning how to teach my girls their school work, countless programs, logins, they used. I had to START filling their days while stuck inside. I had to START doing a massive amount of dishes and coming up with more meals than ever. I was losing me. I had to START thinking of me. I needed to just START creating art.
So I did. And Storyteller Design was born.
My art is what comes to me. I am inspired by music, lyrics, memories, & more.
If you need work that tells a story, I am your designer
