I've been experimenting with digital photo manipulation since 2011, when a friend of mine who's a graphic designer started a project that asked participants to create 1 piece every day for a year. That really opened my eyes to the fun you can have with filters, effects and blending in Photoshop and other photo editing apps. I enjoy recognizing a beautiful color or pattern—in a sliced peach, the light filtering through leaves, even in a bowl of brownie batter!—and transforming it into an abstract image. Most designs start from one of my photos, but a few patterns are created solely from shapes and effects from within an app, and few others start from a drawing or collage.
