À propos
In 2005, I released the first version of Mandelbrot Explorer (https://www.mandel.org.uk), free software to allow people to explore the Mandelbrot Set. For those who don't know, the Mandelbrot Set is a fractal - a shape that you can magnify to limitless degrees, seeing ever more detail. You can also colour the set, so that all kinds of beautiful and strange patterns appear as you enlarge. Fractals occur in nature (coastlines, ferns, etc.), but the Mandelbrot Set is a mathematical one.
The first version was version 2.5. (Version 1 was crude, only ever for my own use. The earlier 2.x releases were numbered to track major new features, but were not complete enough to release to the public). In 2009, version 3.0 was released, a major rewrite with a much improved interface.
I created this Zazzle gallery to showcase the kinds of images the software can produce. The software contains within it a tool that lets you order Zazzle products from images you crease, but I wanted to start people off with designs to inspire them. Here is what you could create.
These fractals are beautiful. Like all art, you'll like some and maybe not others. But if you find some you like, you can order mugs, mousemats, clothing, posters, greetings cards and much more featuring these designs, so you can enjoy them every day.
Enjoy!
