Back in the days of yore, it was commonplace for someone who spoke out against the Royal Family to be branded with the letters HRH by the King or Queen. It was also commonplace for anybody who brought in somebody bearing the brand (dead or alive) to be rewarded very handsomely (more often dead than alive). This made the person a walking target for the rest of their days, constantly having to watch their back, making everyday of their life torture, wondering if today was going to be the day that someone were to find out they bore the brand.
