À propos

Currently I am creating mostly Digital Art with Adobe Creative Cloud tools and in my Architectural Drafting program. I have worked in many mediums, in both sculptural and in two dimensional formats. Sound Sculptures, Wood Carving, and Metal work were all part of my early work in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Since moving to Hawaii in 1990, and before my current digital projects, I was most recently working with ink, liquid acrylics, water, and bamboo brushes. Most of that work is on 140lb watercolor paper. Some of my favorites are on lighter weight paper and are the results of experiments with feelings, techniques, and color themes. WHY I DO I CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN? Expressing the hopes and dreams Expressing beauty and the best of what man can be It makes me laugh Learning the nature of materials and dreams The pure joy of the creative process Learning about myself and the world The feeling of letting go, surrendering to the medium, to the colors, to the sound of the brush on the paper or even the ‘click, click” of a key the keyboard Exploring the unconscious and the collective unconscious worlds INSPIRATIONS: Dreams and visions The beauty of nature, flowers, pictures in the clouds, trees, and water, birds, spirit, the challenge of those who have gone before us to be all that we can be. The interplay of sound, light, and movement WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Some of my work is like a Rorschach test, people will see in the clouds in a particular image, what is in their conscious or unconscious minds. Some images are very symbolic for me and my personal growth. Some images are simply fun and fanciful THE PROCESS, THE METHOD TO MY MADNESS: When I sit down at a blank piece of paper or a blank digital workspace, I close my eyes and breathe. Sometimes I scribble until an image forms which I would like to bring into greater clarity. Sometimes there is already an image or a feeling which I would like to capture.
