When I had my daughter, I was demoralized to see how cliched the imagery on the clothing was in the Girls section -- pink hearts, bunny rabbits, flowers. As much as I would like her to appreciate these things, I wanted to be able to dress her in soft, stretchy, cool feminine clothing that also celebrated machinery, science, exploration, sports, the cosmos. If I did put her in clothes with those icons (from the boys' section), people automatically assumed she must be a boy! So I decided to create a fashion line that levels the playing field, that shows how multifaceted a modern woman's identity can be.
