One in 2,500 people have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a progressive peripheral neuropathy that results in muscle atrophy and sensory loss in the arms, legs, hands and feet. While 2.8 million people have the disease, many people have never heard of it, and raising awareness is critical. In addition to awareness, the CMTA’s goals are patient support, public education, promotion of research and ultimately the treatment and cure of CMT.
