Brian L Art

Brian Leverton, born in Cornwall in 1945, showed an interest in art from an early age following his grandfather around Europe, painting & sketching until he earned a scholarship to the Redruth School of Arts. Over these 4 years, the school widened his range of media and brought depth to his experiences and understanding of the arts. From that time he literally took the scenic route to a career in art, balancing his passion with more immediate income earners to feed his young family such as plumbing, carpentry, boat building and house painting. Fortunately these "alternate" professions sent him to unusual parts of the globe enabling his experiences of life and art to blossom. In the mid 70's Brian dragged his Cornwall-loving family to Australia "to see what he could see" and was almost immediately exterminated by the local wildlife. Playing with a blue-ringed octopus is generally an ill-advised past time and he spent a considerable time in hospital. Eventually Brian regained the upright position and went on to live in a variety of demographics around Australia. Brian and his family worked hard to build up businesses and farms until a fire destroyed everything and once again they had to start their life from scratch. Several years later, fate once again knocked him flat with a heart attack and it was time for him to slow down and "paint the flowers". Brian is now very securely attached to life in the small Qld town of Gin Gin and is re-establishing himself as an artist. He still studies art with a view to extending his repertoire of techniques, although his main interests are landscape, portraiture and wildlife working primarily in graphites, acrylics and oils (One day he may even paint a blue ringed octopus!). Brian uses only the finest materials so that his works can be handed down through the generations and he readily takes commissions
