B17Bomber

Dad was a tailgunner on the B17 bomber Blood N Guts in WW2. He was stationed at Bassingbourn, England with the Army Air Force's 91st Heavy Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. The unit consisted of the 322nd, 323rd, 324th, and 401st Bomb Squadrons. The images here are from a stack of original photos within a map pouch found among his effects 70 years later. The 91st Bomb Group is most noted as the unit in which the bomber Memphis Belle flew, and for having suffered the greatest number of losses of any heavy bomb group in World War II.
