Mug Qvevri

Qvevri is a traditional Georgian winemaking vessel, deeply embedded in the country's rich winemaking history. These large, clay pots are used for fermenting and aging wine, and their unique design allows the wine to interact with the natural elements of the clay, creating distinct flavors that are characteristic of Georgian wines. The process involves burying the qvevri underground to maintain a stable temperature, and the wine ferments with its skins, seeds, and stems — a technique known as amber winemaking. This ancient method, which dates back over 8,000 years, is one of the oldest known forms of winemaking in the world. Qvevri winemaking produces wines that are complex, earthy, and full of character. The tradition of using qvevris has been passed down through generations, and it was even recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, cementing its importance in Georgian culture and the world of wine.
