HappyEaster

The origins of Easter are essentially a celebration of the Spring Equinox - the moment light officially overcomes darkness. Eostre/Ostara - The word "Easter" likely stems from Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of the dawn and spring. Her festival celebrated the "resurrected" sun rising in the East. The Hare: Sacred Fertility - The original "Easter Bunny" was a wild hare, the sacred animal of Eostre. Because hares are incredibly fertile in spring, they became a "mystic" symbol for the earth's sudden burst of new life. The Egg: The Cosmic Seed - Long before it was a Christian symbol, the egg represented the "Cosmic Egg" of creation. Ancient Persians and Egyptians exchanged colored eggs to celebrate the world "cracking open" after the dead of winter. Solar & Lunar Timing - Unlike fixed holidays, Easter's date is still determined by the moon and the sun (the first Sunday after the first full moon of the Equinox), keeping it tied to ancient celestial cycles.
